Good to know

Why so fast? We don’t re-encode the picture: we copy it as it is and leave out the audio track, so the quality matches the original.

Only want it quieter? Use the Audio Volume Booster: it accepts videos too and keeps the picture as it is.

Removing voices but keeping music: that needs AI source separation, which this tool doesn’t do: it removes all of the sound.

Frequently asked questions

Does muting reduce the video quality?

No. The picture is copied exactly, so quality, size and frame rate are those of the original.

Do iPhone videos stay the right way up?

Yes. We keep the orientation information, so a portrait video stays portrait.

Can I mute only part of the video?

Not with this tool: it removes all of the sound. You can trim the part first with the Video Trimmer.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The tool runs inside your browser with the open-source FFmpeg engine; the file is read from your device and the result is saved back to it, never reaching our servers or anyone else’s.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes, in Safari (16.4 or newer), Chrome, Firefox and Edge, on phones and computers. Phones are slower and have less memory, so start with short clips.
