How to make a QR code in three steps

1

Choose what it opens

A link, a WhatsApp chat, a Wi-Fi network, a contact card or plain text.

2

Add content and style

The code appears instantly. Change colors and dot shapes, and add your logo in the middle if you like.

3

Test, then download

Scan it with your phone, then download a PNG image or an SVG for your printer, or print it directly.

Static QR codes that never expire

Many QR sites hand you a “dynamic” code that routes visitors through their servers before reaching your link. When the free trial ends, the code stops working or shows an ad, after it's already printed on menus, signs and cards.

Codes made here are static: the link or text is written into the image itself, never passes through a server, needs no subscription, and works for as long as the image exists. Because it's static, the content can't change after printing. If you expect the link to change, point the code at a page on your own website and update that page whenever you like.

Tips for a QR code that scans first time

Dark on light. Keep the code dark and the background light. Inverted codes (light on dark) fail on many phones.

Right size. At least 2 × 2 cm, and roughly one tenth of the scanning distance: a sign scanned from 2 m needs a 20 cm code.

Keep the margin. The light space around the code matters; don't place it tight against a photo or text.

Logo in moderation. We keep a safe area for the logo and raise error correction. Always test a scan after adding a logo or changing colors.

QR code generator FAQ

Do QR codes made here expire?

No. They are static: the content is written into the image itself and never passes through a server, so the code works for as long as the image exists. Many sites hand out dynamic codes that route through their servers and stop working when the free trial ends.

Can a QR code hold Arabic or other non-English text?

Yes. We encode text as standard UTF-8, so Arabic, accented letters and emoji read correctly on iPhone and Android cameras, in plain text, Wi-Fi network names and contact cards.

How do I make a QR code for a restaurant menu?

Put the menu online at a stable address, such as a page on your website or a PDF, choose Link and paste the address. Add your logo if you like, and download the SVG to send to your printer.

Will the QR code still scan with a logo in the middle?

Yes. When you add a logo we switch to the highest error-correction level, so phones read the code even though the logo covers part of it. Still, test it with your phone camera before printing, especially if you changed the colors.

What is the smallest size to print a QR code?

Don't go below about 2 × 2 cm (0.8 in). A practical rule: make the code one tenth as wide as the scanning distance, so a code scanned from 1 m needs about 10 cm.

Can I change the link after printing?

No, because the link is written into the code itself. If you expect the content to change, point the code to a page on your own website and update that page whenever you like, with no reprinting.

What is the difference between a QR code and a barcode?

A regular barcode is a row of bars holding a short number, read by checkout scanners and used for products and inventory; you can make one with our barcode generator. A QR code is a square that holds a link or longer text and is read with a phone camera.
