How to calculate your age in three steps
Pick the calendar
Gregorian or Hijri, whichever is on your birth certificate or ID.
Enter your birth date
Day, month and year.
Read your age in both
Years, months and days, plus your total days and hours and your next birthday.
Why your Hijri and Gregorian ages differ
The Hijri year follows the moon and lasts 354 or 355 days; the Gregorian year follows the sun and lasts 365 or 366. So your Hijri age moves ahead by about one year every 33 years.
| Gregorian age | Approx. Hijri age |
|---|---|
| 18 years | 18 years, 6 months |
| 25 years | 25 years, 9 months |
| 33 years | 34 years |
| 40 years | 41 years, 2 months |
| 60 years | 61 years, 10 months |

Birthdays in both calendars. See how long until your Gregorian and Hijri birthdays; they rarely line up.
Age calculator FAQ
How do I calculate my age in Hijri years?
Enter your birth date in Hijri or Gregorian. The calculator shows your Hijri age in years, months and days using the official Umm al-Qura calendar, alongside your Gregorian age.
Why is my Hijri age higher than my Gregorian age?
A Hijri year has 354 or 355 days, about 11 days shorter than a Gregorian year. Every 33 Gregorian years equal roughly 34 Hijri years, so your Hijri age gains a full year about every 33 years.
How do I calculate age on a specific date?
Open “Calculate age on another date” and choose the date, such as a job application deadline or the start of the school year, to see the exact age on that day.
Is the calculator exact in months and days?
Yes. It counts real calendar years, months and days, accounting for different month lengths and leap years; for Hijri it uses the official Umm al-Qura month lengths.
When is the birthday of someone born on 29 February?
In common years we show it on 28 February, and on 29 February in leap years. Likewise, someone born on the 30th of a Hijri month gets the last day of the month when that month has 29 days.
Do you store my birth date?
No. Everything is calculated on your device and your birth date is never sent to any server.
