How to use it
Pick the start date
Gregorian, or tap “Hijri” to type a Hijri date.
Pick the end date
Or tap “End = today” to count up to today.
Read the result
The period in both calendars plus total days, weeks, months and hours; copy it with one tap.
Year and month lengths
This is why the Hijri result differs: a Hijri year is about 11 days shorter.
| Gregorian | Hijri (Umm al-Qura) | |
|---|---|---|
| Days in a year | 365 or 366 | about 354 or 355 |
| Days in a month | 28 to 31 | 29 or 30 |
| Month start | fixed by rule | by the official Umm al-Qura calendar |
Good to know
How months are counted: whole months first, then the days left, like Python’s dateutil. January 31 to February 28 is one whole month, because February has ended.
The end day: isn’t counted by default (January 1 to 2 is one day). Tick “Include the end day” when the period covers both days, like a holiday.
Hours: tick “Add times of day” to get hours and minutes between two moments; it uses local clock time and ignores daylight saving shifts.
FAQ
How do I count the days between two dates?
Enter both dates and the total days shows at once. The end date isn’t counted unless you tick “Include the end day”.
Can I use Hijri dates?
Yes. Tap “Hijri” on either field and type the Hijri day, month and year. We show the period in both calendars, based on the official Umm al-Qura calendar (1343–1500 AH).
How many weeks are between two dates?
The “weeks” box shows whole weeks, and the result line gives weeks plus the days left.
Is anything sent to a server?
