How to cut audio
Choose the file
Choose an audio file from your computer or phone. Videos work too; their sound is cut.
Mark the part
Drag the two handles on the waveform or type the times, and press “Play the selection” to check.
Cut and save
Keep the part or remove it, add a fade if you like, then press “Cut the audio”.
Useful ideas
Ringtone: pick 20 to 30 seconds with a fade out at the end, and save it as MP3 for Android or M4A for iPhone.
Remove a middle part: choose “Remove it” to take out a cough, a mistake or a break from the middle and keep the rest.
Same format: we save in your file’s format at no lower quality, unless you choose another format.
Frequently asked questions
How do I cut part of an MP3?
Choose the file, drag the handles to the start and end of the part, press “Cut the audio” and download it.
How do I delete a part from the middle of a recording?
Select the part you want gone and choose “Remove it”: what comes before and after is joined into one file.
What do fade in and fade out do?
They raise the sound gradually from silence at the start and lower it at the end, so the clip doesn’t start or stop abruptly. Handy for ringtones and intros.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The tool runs inside your browser with the open-source FFmpeg engine; the file is read from your device and the result is saved back to it, never reaching our servers or anyone else’s.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, in Safari (16.4 or newer), Chrome, Firefox and Edge, on phones and computers. Phones have less memory, so very long files may stop.
