How to change audio speed
Choose the file
Choose an audio file or a video from your device.
Pick the speed
1.25× or 1.5× to listen faster, 0.75× to slow down, or type another speed. Keep “Keep the pitch” ticked.
Change and download
Press “Change the speed”, listen to the result and download it in your file’s format.
Keep the pitch or not
| Option | What happens | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Keep the pitch | Only the speed changes; the voice sounds natural. | Lectures, lessons, audiobooks, memorizing. |
| Don’t keep the pitch | Higher when faster, deeper when slower, like a tape played at another speed. | Sound effects and “sped up” / “slowed” edits. |
Frequently asked questions
How do I speed up a recording without changing the voice?
Pick the speed and keep “Keep the pitch” ticked: the speech gets faster and the speaker’s tone stays the same.
What speed is best for lectures?
Many people are comfortable at 1.25× or 1.5×; above 2× it usually gets hard to follow.
Does the length change?
Yes: 2× makes it half as long, 0.5× twice as long. We show the new length before you start.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The tool runs inside your browser with the open-source FFmpeg engine; the file is read from your device and the result is saved back to it, never reaching our servers or anyone else’s.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, in Safari (16.4 or newer), Chrome, Firefox and Edge, on phones and computers. Phones have less memory, so very long files may stop.
