How to build the forecast
Cash today
Enter the cash you have now in the bank and till, and pick the first month and how many months.
Money in and out
Add each amount coming in (sales, collections) or going out (rent, salaries, stock), how often it repeats and when it starts.
Read the table
Net = in − out; balance = last month’s balance + net. Red months are where the balance drops below zero.
Tips
Record when cash arrives, not when you sell: credit and instalment sales come in when collected. That is the difference between cash flow and profit.
Don’t forget big, rare payments: licence renewals, insurance, annual fees: use “Yearly” or “Once” in their month.
Negative balance? Arrange funding, delay purchases or ask for deposits before that month.
Update monthly: your data stays in your browser, so replace estimates with actual figures as you go.
FAQ
What is cash flow?
The movement of cash into and out of a business over a period. Net cash flow = cash in − cash out.
Cash flow vs profit?
Profit is counted when you sell, even if unpaid; cash flow counts money when it actually arrives. A business can be profitable on paper and still miss payroll.
Is this an accounting cash flow statement?
No. The accounting statement splits past flows into operating, investing and financing. This is a planning tool for the months ahead.
How do I keep the table?
It stays in your browser automatically. You can also download a CSV for Excel, or print it and save as PDF.
