    FAQ

How do I convert WebP to PNG or JPG?

Choose PNG or JPG under “Convert to”, then add the WebP image. Pick PNG to keep transparency, JPG for ordinary photos because it is smaller.

What is the difference between JPG, JPEG and JFIF?

They are the same format under different names. If a site refuses a JFIF file, convert it to JPG here.

What happens to transparency when converting to JPG?

JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with a color you choose (white by default). To keep transparency choose PNG or WebP.

    Is quality lost?

PNG loses nothing. For JPG and WebP you set the quality; at 92% the difference is hard to see. Image dimensions are not changed.

Does it work with animated GIFs?

Only the first frame is converted, so the result is a still image.

    Is image metadata removed?

Yes. The new image carries no EXIF data: location and phone model are removed, and the capture date too.

    Are my images uploaded?

No. Converting happens inside your browser; the images never leave your device.
