Remove EXIF Data

See what your photo hides, like where it was taken, and remove it before you share or send it.

Your images never leave your device: they are read and saved inside the browser.

    How to remove EXIF data

    1

    Add photos

Choose one or more JPG, PNG or WebP photos.

    2

    See what was found

For each photo we list the location, phone, date and more, and remove them right away.

    3

    Download the clean photos

Download each photo, or all as a ZIP. The picture itself is unchanged.

What is removed and what is kept?

    DataWhat we doWhy
GPS locationRemovedIt can reveal your home or work address.
Phone, lens and settingsRemovedIdentifying data the picture doesn’t need.
Date and time takenRemovedIt can reveal your routine and movements.
XMP, IPTC, comments, name and copyrightRemovedText added by apps or the camera.
Thumbnail and hidden pictures at the end of the fileRemovedThey can show the photo before it was cropped or edited.
ICC color profileKeptIt keeps the colors right and says nothing about you.
OrientationKept alone if the photo is rotatedSo a phone photo doesn’t show on its side.
Why doesn’t the quality change? We don’t redraw or re-compress the image: the image data is copied byte for byte and only the metadata blocks are left out. The pixels match the original exactly, and the file shrinks by the size of what was removed. If a phone photo is stored on its side and shows upright thanks to its orientation tag, we keep that one tag in a fresh block that holds nothing else.

    FAQ

How do I remove the location from a photo?

Add the photo here: we show the location if there is one and remove it with the rest of the metadata. Then download the clean photo.

Don’t WhatsApp and social apps remove it anyway?

Most chat apps strip the location on a normal send, but sending a photo “as a file”, by email, or to websites and cloud drives usually keeps it. Remove it yourself to be sure.

Does the quality or size of the image change?

No. The pixels match the original exactly because the image is not re-compressed.

Does it work with iPhone HEIC photos?

Not here. Convert them with HEIC to JPG: the result carries no EXIF data.

    Are my photos uploaded?

No. Photos are read and cleaned inside your browser and never leave your device.
