Which effect should I use?

EffectGood forNote
BlurFaces and backgrounds, softly.Use a high strength for text and numbers: a light blur may stay readable.
PixelateFaces, news-style.Small blocks can sometimes be guessed, so keep them large.
Solid coverID, card, account and phone numbers, addresses. The safest: nothing of the original remains under it.
Hiding sensitive data For ID, card and account numbers use “Solid cover”: it leaves no trace of the original. A light blur or small pixels can sometimes let text be guessed. Also remember a photo may carry its location in its metadata; you can remove it with Remove EXIF Data (the image saved here carries none).

FAQ

How do I blur a face in a photo?

Choose “Areas I mark”, drag a box around the face or tap it, and pick the “Oval” shape if you like. Mark as many faces as you need; “Delete selected area” removes one.

Can the blur be undone after saving?

Not from the new photo: the original pixels are not stored in it. But a light blur can leave text readable, so raise the strength or use the cover for sensitive data.

How do I blur the whole picture?

Choose “The whole image” and move “Strength”. Handy for design and slide backgrounds.

Does it remove the photo’s location?

Yes: the image you download carries no EXIF data such as location, phone model or capture date.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Everything runs inside your browser; the photo never leaves your device.
