Unzip Files Online

Open the ZIP and see what is inside, then download the file you need or extract everything.

Your files never leave your device: they are read and saved inside the browser.

How to unzip a file

1

Choose the ZIP

Choose the file or drop it in the box; the files and folders inside appear with their sizes.

2

Type the password if asked

If the ZIP is protected, a password box appears. The password is checked before extracting.

3

Download what you need

Preview text and images, download any file with its button, extract everything to a folder you pick (on a computer), or download every file one after another.

Safety limits

Protection from “ZIP bombs”. Some tiny files unpack into thousands of gigabytes to fill the memory. We don’t extract a file over 1 GB or with an abnormal ratio (over 1,000× for anything above 100 MB), never write more than a file’s declared size, and check every file’s integrity.

Dangerous names. When extracting to a folder, “..” and other tricks that try to write outside the folder you chose are removed from the paths.

On a phone. Downloading file by file works on phones. “Extract all to a folder” appears in desktop browsers that support it, like Chrome and Edge.

What can’t be opened? RAR and 7z files aren’t ZIP files, so they don’t open here. Some ZIPs made by special programs use rare methods (like LZMA or BZIP2) that browsers can’t decompress; we tell you when you try to extract one.
Your files stay on your device. Everything runs inside your browser: your files are not uploaded to any server and nothing is kept, and the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded.

FAQ

How do I unzip a file on a phone or iPhone?

Open this page in your browser, choose the file from Files, then download the file you want from the list. No app needed.

How do I open a password-protected ZIP?

Choose the file, type the password in the box that appears and press “Open”. AES and ZipCrypto encryption are supported. It can’t be opened without the right password.

File names look garbled. What can I do?

This happens with ZIPs made by older Windows versions that don’t write names in UTF-8. Pick another encoding (such as Arabic DOS or Windows-1256) from the file-name encoding list that appears.

Can I preview files before downloading?

Yes, for text, CSV, code and images. Other files are downloaded and opened with their own app.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. The ZIP is read and unpacked inside your browser and never leaves your device.
