Excel to CSV

Choose an Excel file and download each sheet as a CSV ready to import into stores, databases and accounting software.

Your files never leave your device: they are read and saved inside the browser.

How to convert Excel to CSV

    1

    Choose the file

Choose an Excel file or drop it in the box: xlsx, xls or ods. You can pick several files.

    2

    Set the options

Pick the delimiter and encoding, and whether numbers and dates stay as shown or become full values. Preview any sheet first.

    3

    Download

Download one sheet with its “CSV” button, or every chosen sheet together in a ZIP file.

CSV options and when to use them

    OptionChoiceWhen to use it
DelimiterComma ,The most common; most platforms (Shopify, Google, most stores) expect it.
DelimiterSemicolon ;If Excel on your computer separates with semicolons (some regional settings), or the target system asks for it.
DelimiterTabFor pasting into spreadsheets and some older programs; saved as a .txt file.
EncodingUTF-8 with BOMThe default: opens with every language intact when you double-click it in Excel.
EncodingUTF-8 without BOMFor systems and scripts that reject the invisible mark at the start of the file.
Numbers and datesAs shown in ExcelIn the cell’s display format, like 1,250.00 or 1/15/2024.
Numbers and datesFull valuesNumbers at full precision without formatting, dates as 2024-01-15: best for importing.
Why does a CSV show garbled characters in Excel? Excel reads a CSV in the old Windows encoding unless it finds a BOM at the start. This tool writes UTF-8 with a BOM by default, so Arabic and accented letters show correctly in Excel and everywhere else.
Your files stay on your device. Everything runs inside your browser: your files are not uploaded to any server and nothing is kept, and the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded.

    FAQ

How do I convert Excel to CSV UTF-8?

Choose the file, keep the encoding at “UTF-8 with BOM” and download. UTF-8 keeps every character, and the BOM makes Excel read it correctly.

Are all sheets converted, or only the first?

Each sheet becomes its own CSV file, because a CSV holds a single table. Pick the sheets you want and download them together as a ZIP.

What happens to formulas, formatting and colors?

CSV is plain text: each formula is written as the result it had when the file was last saved, and colors, fonts, images and charts are not carried over.

    What about merged cells?

A merged cell’s value sits in its first cell only, as Excel saves it. Turn on “Repeat merged cells’ value” to fill every cell the merge covers.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. The file is read and converted inside your browser and never leaves your device.
